Yes we need it, because it was promised, and because we purchased a bunch of PS2 games and should be able to play them on our PS3 if the desire arises.
Its obvious backcompat is a must especially in this era of super consoles that supposedly do everything, shouldn't they at least play games too?
If it was 360 that abandoned backwards compatibility, no one would be asking do we need it, we would just see article after article about how evil and scummy Mic...

going to happen, apparently some stupid bean counters @ Microsoft have really tightened the advertising budget this year for games, I think they spent all the money on advertising the new 3sexy.
So now there is hardly any money left for games, I mean look what happened to Alan Wake, they barely advertised that at all.
and EU, but very few PS3s sold in those days, the ones that did are mostly obsolete due to the YLOD.
I loved the look of those all black units, the chrome strip looks corny retro 70's to me.

that was Forza in photo mode, but that was the only still working link I could find for a Forza vs Real life.
At least it was photo mode from in game, the GT5 pics are at angles not achievable in photo mode, they had to be taken from a computer other than the PS3, at least some of them.
@IRetrouk: not sure whats wrong with your TV cuz Forza looks exactly like those pics in the link, especially since they were taken from the game itself... LOL!
came out almost a year ago. At the time of launch they did have a few Forza vs real life articles; and they used actual IN GAME from gameplay footage in forza, not these computer generated bull shots that everyone uses for GT5.

in which I am flabbergasted by what people put up with on PS3, the more I read and listen the more things I find that the PS3 does not do, or does very poorly compared to 360; yet hundreds of you on this site would give your right kidney before you would say anything negative about Sony or the PS3, its insane, and fascinating all at the same time.

Dude wtf are you talking about, I got HDMI and optical sound, no adapter needed. Further more, if you run the HDMI directly to the TV instead of a receiver, you dont even need optical sound, HDMI carries sound AND video.

I cant say Ive ever seen Beck distort information, because the only information I have ever seen him give is what he pulls from videos and facts that are available to anyone, the guy is not making stuff up as he goes. I think before you jump on the Beck is evil bandwagon, you really should watch him first. Also he seems to be a good guy outside of work, gives lots to charity and takes great care of his employees...
